Are You Ready To Start Your Musical Journey!
Hi, I’m Timothy Davis and I am the Instructor of Spirit & Soul Piano.
With gratitude and passion, I am a professional pianist playing since 1975 and teaching since 1983. Apart from giving private piano lessons and playing at private functions, like birthdays, weddings, and funerals, I serve as an educator at an elementary school for children with disabilities to aid in their behavioral development. I am also the official pianist at Trinity Baptist Church, First Union Baptist Church, and Restoration Seventh Day Adventist Church in Richmond, Virginia. Moreover, I am part of the Nu Beginning Choir at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Richmond and have taught piano at several summer camp programs over the years.

I describe myself as a passionate pianist with a strong desire to continue to develop and improve my craft and help others refine theirs, too. For me, the piano is not just an instrument; it’s a vehicle for creative expression and a tool to help people realize their true potential through hard work and dedication. The learning process and experience can inspire anyone to achieve anything in life with passion, commitment, desire for growth, and a positive mindset.
I owe my skills of playing piano and my knowledge of music theory to a blind man named Bobby Howard who taught me everything I needed to advance and evolve. Although I was only a child then, I could not help but be inspired by his talent. He was a master of his craft, and seeing him play piano so awesomely led me to believe in what I heard before; “Nothing is impossible in life. No dream is too big, and no goal remains unachievable if you work for it with sincerity, passion, and hard work.” This has been the biggest lesson of my life that I learned at an early age and have been trying to implement in every aspect of life.
My other passion is teaching children with disabilities. I get a chance to witness these young people learn how to read, spell words and do math in ways that surprise themselves. I would say to them, “See? Yesterday, you could not do this, but today you can!” To see this on a continuous basis is very uplifting.
Apart from playing and teaching piano, I like to draw and spend time with my family and friends.
